There are just 5 basic Body Types and they are based on your bone structure.
Your Body Type does not change, even if you gain weight.
You wouldn’t put a square tablecloth on a round table because the shapes don’t fit.
And you wouldn’t put a round tablecloth on a square table either.
When the shape is wrong it looks awkward. When the shape is right it looks balanced and elegant.
Clothes work in exactly the same way!
Your body has a natural frame and your clothes need to work with that shape.
If they don’t, they may feel uncomfortable, look awkward or never seem to hang properly.
It’s not your fault. It simply means the garment is not the right shape for you!
One of the easiest ways to begin identifying your Body Type is to look at your hips.
Most women can tell whether their hips are more CURVED or more STRAIGHT.
Different Shapes Need Different Lines
CURVED hips usually need CURVED lines, shaping and fabrics that drape.
STRAIGHT hips usually need STRAIGHTER lines, cleaner cuts and fabrics with more structure.
That is why one style can look lovely on one woman and awkward on another.
Whether you are a size 8 or a size 28, your basic bone structure stays the same.
You can gain weight or lose weight, but you do not change your natural frame.
That is why Body Type is such an important place to begin.
